I have been physically active in sports all my life, teaching aerobics and then weight training. So it did not take much for a friend to persuade me in 2000 to become one of her students and my first yoga teacher.
I jumped into her classes 4 to 5 times each week and just loved it. At the time, I had no idea what yoga was, or that these classes called Ashtanga would shape the foundation of my practice and teachings today.
Right away I was hooked and began reading everything I could find on yoga, yoga philosophy and later on the human anatomy so that I could understand what was happening in my mind and body to make the postures.
Breath, rhythm, timing, focus, concentration, toning both the body and mind and much more … wow, all this from Yoga.
For my Ashtanga practice, I have been very fortunate to have as my core and continued teachers Rosella Rossi whom I met in 2004, Tim Miller in 2005 and David Swenson in 2006. To this day, I attend as many workshops, classes and teacher trainings with them whenever possible.
Getting to where I am now has taken me on a wonderful journey within. I have tried other styles of yoga such as Hatha, Kundalini, Power, Vinyasa and Anusara, only to end back at what I love - Ashtanga. I have had many wonderful teachers, including Doug Swenson, Shelly Washington, Andrew Eppler, Robert Boustany, Nicki Doane, Eddie Modestini, Karen Henderson and Charly Pivert for Anusara.
My Ashtanga teachings are on point with the core Ashtanga Traditions that have been handed to me by my teachers. I also give Vinyasa classes inspired by Ashtanga and Anusara with focus on breathing. I enjoy inspiring other people to practice what I love.
